Self-deception is a constant struggle as we progress into healthier more aware individuals. As we walk along the many paths toward healing, the ego can deceive us and take us off course. It may be a book, a movie, or a religious/psychedelic experience that first ignites our passion and sets foot on our path of awakening. We call this the spiritual path and for most it’s something I don’t often recommend consciously starting because once we’ve started there is no turning back.
When we get in touch with ourselves and set out on a “spiritual” path we can get caught up in the identity of being spiritual. Wearing mala beads, growing our hair out, eating vegan, dressing a certain way, or carrying ourselves in a specific way. This identity is another trap by the ego that ironically pulls us further from our true nature.
